Pablo Escobar’s son has sent a message to his deceased father on the drug lord’s birthday thanking him for having shown him “the way I should not go” while paying respect to his victims.
Juan Pablo Escobar Henao celebrated what would have been his father’s 70th birthday by sharing two pictures of the pair together along with a message.
He wrote: “Today would be your 70th birthday! I grew up in a culture that prays: you will honour your father and your mother. You raised me with love and values. You gave me what you thought was best for me. Thank you for showing me the way I should NOT go. I did not come to this world to be your judge. I am only part of your most important affections. Only God can judge you, because very few are free from sin.”
He added: “I owe respect to you and to your victims as well. A big hug on this day! With love, your son Juan Pablo”.
Juan Pablo also reposted the picture shared by his mother Victoria Eugenia Henao where the drug lord is seen with her at a dinner party.
The wife of the drug lord wrote: “Life passes and years pass. Today, on 1st December you would be celebrating your 70th birthday. I have walked through life, with shades and colours, with joy and pain.
“From the woman you met at 12 years old and with our love story, I thank God for the two kids we have, who today, for me, are the example of a resilient life.
“Remember your words referring to Juan Pablo Escobar Henao, who was a pacifist and today he has been named as the Ambassador of the World Organisation for Peace OMPP! And your “ballerina without teeth” as you called her (his daughter) is a great woman, always worried about learning and being a good person.
“If history had been different, our wake up today would be with a huge hug and the visit of our children and grandson”.
Escobar was the leader of the Medellin Cartel and is believed to be responsible for the deaths of thousands of people.
He was born in Rionegro on 1st December 1949 and on 2nd December 1993 he was shot dead while escaping through the roof of a house in Medellin, Colombia.
