Filipino customs officials have found 119 living tarantulas inside a pair of old Asics trainers being moved through an international airport.
The shocking find on the eve of Halloween took place at Ninoy Aquino International Airport in the city of Pasay in the Philippines.
The 119 tarantulas were hidden inside plastic vials placed in the old trainers.
The trainers were inside a package that was X-rayed while it was moved through the warehouse facilities of an airport courier service.
The package was posted by a man in Poland, identified as Michal Krolicki, for a recipient in the Philippine city of General Trias, according to the news site Coconuts Manila.

Customs officials found the tarantulas when they noticed what seems suspicious on the X-ray and opened the package to check.
The 119 spiders were stored inside vials stuffed in the Asics trainers.
The tarantulas have been handed to the Philippine environment authorities as the police investigation continues.
