This is the video a runaway 16-year-old girl sent the media accusing her parents of trying to marry her off for cash, and saying she would kill herself if she was forced to go home.
Teenager Elisabeta Turcanu, from the city of Piatra Neamt in the Romanian county of Neamt, said she had been rescued by her boyfriend who she loved, and refused to leave him to be sold off to another man.
Local police confirmed that they started a search for her on 15th June after she reportedly ran away a day earlier.

A police statement said: “On 14th June, Piatra Neamt police officers were notified by a 38-year-old woman that her daughter, 16-year-old Elisabeta Turcanu, voluntarily left home on the evening of 13th and 14th June and did not return.”
At first, the teen sent a video message explaining that she left home voluntarily to be with her boyfriend.
Several days later, she posted another clip telling her family and the police to stop looking for her because if she was sent home, her parents would sell her off into an arranged marriage.
The teen stated that she is with the man she loves and underlined that she would kill herself if she was forced to return home.

In the second clip, she says: “They want to marry me off to a man for 30,000 EUR (27,100 GBP) but I love him (boyfriend). Call off the police and leave me alone, do you want me to kill myself?”
According to reports, the teen sent the videos to her friends who passed them onto local media that then published them in Romania.
There has been no statement from her parents or the police yet.
