Nunchuck Master Sets Guinness Record Putting Out Candles

This is the martial arts master inspired by legend Bruce Lee who has just set a new Guinness World Record for the most candles extinguished using nunchucks under one minute.

Guinness World Records, which has its global headquarters in London, sent an official adjudicator to watch the 26-year-old’s record-setting stunt.

Video shows Xie holding the nunchuks in his right hand, swinging them methodically at the dozens of candles placed on an improvised long wooden table.

Without touching the candles themselves, he manages to put out flame after flame, extinguishing 52 in the record time of 53.39 seconds, beating the previous record of 50 candles in one minute.

Xie, who is from the city of Chaozhou in China’s southern province of Guangdong, revealed he has been training with nunchaku for a decade.

He left his hometown to find work at the age of 18, and has since become a renowned nunchaku master, winning competitions in Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.

Inspired by Hong Long-American kung fu legend Bruce Lee, Xie has demonstrated his candle-snuffing skills before.

In 2017, he appeared on Chinese television and put out five candles using his nunchaku.

He also managed to extinguish 100 candles in two minutes, and was later motivated to take on the Guinness World Record.

According to reports, Xie failed his first attempt six months earlier when one of his strikes accidentally snuffed out two candle flames at the same time.

He said the technique required to produce the precision was “extremely difficult”.

In a separate promotional video, Xie called his nunchaku “handy” to have around.

He is also seen striking a match being held in the mouth of a volunteer, while also smashing an apple off the head of another one of his assistants – this time blindfolded.
