New Ukraine PM Whizzes Around Parliament On Scooter

This is the moment Ukraine’s new prime minster Oleksiy Honcharuk whizzes around the parliament building on an electric scooter on his first days in the new role.

The 35-year-old politician became Ukraine’s 17th Prime Minister on 29th August, the country’s youngest-ever leader, and he sent a message on the country’s ‘Knowledge Day’ on 1st September that was viewed by over 200,000 people on social media.

While sharing footage of him whizzing around the Verkhovna Rada building on an electric scooter, Honcharuk said: “1st September is always a new start. For some, it means school life, for others, student life. 1st September coincided with my first week in premier life!”

The new PM also said that the parliament building is very large with numerous long corridors so it is practical to “sometimes use a scooter”.

Honcharuk’s government is targeting economic growth of five percent next year and seven percent in the subsequent years, with the new PM commenting: “The main priority for the government is economic growth. Economic growth is the answer to most of the problems that the state has.”

He also stated that for a country to be successful, it needs smart, educated citizens, adding: “So study hard and everyone in the government will do everything we can to create the right conditions for you.”

Many netizens were impressed with the 35-year-old’s bright start as PM, with one Facebook user commenting: “Well, no one has done that before!”
