Nantes Stunned At Cardiffs Sala Manslaughter Lawsuit

A source close to FC Nantes says the club “are stunned” after Cardiff reportedly filed a complaint yesterday evening with French prosecutors over Emiliano Sala’s death.

After news of the move by Cardiff emerged in British and French news outlets, a source close to FC Nantes reportedly told local media that the club was “very serene”.

However, the unnamed source added: “We are absolutely stunned by this umpteenth manoeuvre by Cardiff, who have continued for a year to instrumentalise this drama and to flee their responsibilities.”

They also said: “We are indignant at this new media offensive just a few days after the commemorations in tribute to Sala and a few days before Cardiff’s regularisation of their memory before the Court of Sports Arbitration (TAS).”

According to multiple media outlets, Cardiff filed a complaint in France against an unnamed individual (‘plainte contre X’ in French) yesterday evening (Tuesday 28th January).

The aim of the complaint is reportedly to define the scope of responsibility of FC Nantes President Waldemar Kita should bear regarding the transfer terms of Emiliano Sala to Cardiff.

Cardiff have hired the Dupond-Moretti and Vey law firm in Paris to represent them in France.

Speaking on behalf of the law firm, lawyer Antoine Vey told local media: “FC Nantes and its leaders are accomplices in the crime by deliberately having recourse to the services of intermediaries which they could not ignore that they were practising illegally.”

Mr Vey also queried the role of Sala’s agent Willie McKay in organising the tragic flight.
