These images show a mutant piglet that was reportedly born looking and sounding like a human baby.
The video, filmed in Tanjay, in Negros Oriental province, in the Philippines, shows the piglet shortly after it was born. A man can be seen placing it in a cloth.
The animal’s face appears to be seriously deformed, with the man trying to help it open its mouth.
Local media reports said that the animal looked and sounded like a human baby.
It reportedly died a few hours after being born.
The animal’s owner, named as Alfredo Cardinas Jr, told local media: “When I saw it, I was scared.”
He added: “I was even more shocked when I heard it cry. Its cry sounded like an ‘Oh’. It seemed like it came from a child.”
The piglet was reportedly the fourth in a litter of eight, the rest of which looked normal, he added.
Unfortunately, the human-like piglet died four hours after it was born, and was buried.
The city veterinarian, named as Dr Ma Christine Hope Dejadena, said that the piglet may have been premature or abnormalities could have surfaced in its mother’s pregnancy.
She said it was a rare case and the other piglets were not affected.
The vet also refuted online rumours that its mother had been impregnated by an animal from a different species.
She said: “The pig will not get pregnant from a different species.”
