Moscow Claims Study Of Captured Leopard Tank Reveals Russian Ones Are Stronger

The Russians are claiming that a study of a captured Leopard tank has revealed that Russian ones are stronger.

Russian tanks have significantly better protection due to a smaller area of weaker zones.

This is according to TASS, the Russian state news agency, quoting the press service of the Uralvagonzavod concern (UVZ, part of Rostec) at the IDEX 2025 international exhibition, commenting on an examination by specialists of a German Leopard tank captured from the frontlines.

The company’s specialists, together with specialists from the Russian military, are reportedly studying the captured Leopard tank, which was delivered from the “zone of the special military operation” last autumn.

The UVZ press service said: “Modern Russian tanks, compared to Western ones, have better protection, including due to a much smaller area of weakened zones.

“The main advantage of our armoured vehicles is that they are constantly being modernised taking into account real combat use.”

But Ukrainian soldiers have said that Leopard tanks are better than old Soviet ones because the ammo does not explode, kill the crew, and blow the turret off if it takes a hit.
