300 individuals worth over 8.5 million rubles were delivered to the Kuban through Sochi customs by flights. The documents stated that the animals are intended for zoos or circuses, the company provided the necessary veterinary certificates and permits of the Rosselkhoznadzor and CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora)

Despite this, the 300 macaques ended up at a local research institute where they were allegedly subjected to illegal medical experiments.
