This is the moment a zoo goer shares several ‘kisses’ with an orangutan he saw sitting alone and looking sad.
The encounter was filmed at Shanghai Wild Animal Park in the Chinese city of Shanghai last week, and the footage has been widely shared on the social network Douyin, also known as TikTok.
The video was reportedly filmed by the wife of the man, identified as Mr Zhang, while he was interacting with the orangutan.
Mr Zhang said he saw the young orangutan sitting in front of the window, apparently alone and sad.
He got close to the window to interact with the great ape, but was left surprised when the animal ‘kissed’ him through the glass.
Mr Zhang kissed the orangutan back and was further surprised when it continued to pucker up and offer more smackers.
In the video, the ape is seen sitting on the window ledge just a few centimetres from the man’s face, separated by the glass partition between them.
The pair share a ‘kiss’ and the ape looks down, however, Mr Zhang wants to interact further and blows another kiss through the glass.
The orangutan duly obliges and the pair share several more kisses before the footage ends.
