Moment Turk Coast Guard Saves Dog Swept Out To Sea After It Fled Wildfires

This is the moment the Turkish Coast Guard rescues a dog at sea after escaping from the wildfires battering the country’s south coast.

Many animals were affected by the wildfires in the district of Marmaris in the Turkish province of Mugla that had been raging for two weeks.

A field hospital was set up in the neighbourhood of Hisaronu to treat injured animals, from eagles to turtles, and then release them in national parks following a period of recovery.

One dog reportedly escaped from a burning forest and ran into the sea where it got swept away by the currents.

The Coast Guard was informed of the incident by eyewitnesses and sent a team to rescue it.

In the footage, the Coast Guard boat is seen sailing alongside the dog as it paddles in the water.

An official uses an extended pole to grab the dog’s collar and lift it onboard the vessel.a

Colleagues then help to bring the dog onto the deck where they try to reassure it.

The Coast Guard said it was unclear how long the dog had been stranded in the sea and that it was very timid after being rescued.
