This is the moment Russian strongman Vladimir Putin appears to show his softer side by blowing a kiss to a three-year-old boy during a video conference call on Children’s Day.
The Russian leader reportedly spoke with several families from different regions during an online conference to mark Children’s Day on 1st June.
According to local media, Putin spoke with one married couple from the south-western region of Rostov Oblast who has 11 children.
The large Kalmykov family was surprised when the president reportedly blew a kiss to three-year-old boy Vasily.
During the online chat, the boy’s parents asked him to sit quietly, but Putin insisted: “Let him talk.”
While sitting on his dad’s lap, the boy replied into the microphone: “Hi! Thanks, thanks.”
Putin also asked the family about their beekeeping and after listening to the father’s answer, the Russian leader smiled, spoke to the young boy and then blew him a kiss, according to reports.
Those involved in the online conference said they were surprised by the president’s gesture.
The 67-year-old leader has been the Russian president since 2012 after previously holding the position from 1999 until 2008.
He also served as prime minister from 1999 to 2000 and again between 2008 and 2012.
