This is the moment a mother rhinoceros shows who is boss when she puts a stop to her rowdy partner and their son’s play fighting.
The footage was shot at Dortmund Zoo in the western German state of North Rhine-Westphalia and shows baby rhino Willi, who was born on 8th January, play fighting with his father Amari.
The young bull playfully butts horns with the much larger male rhino as mum Shakina munches on some food in the background.
After a while, however, Shakina decides that it is time to put a stop to their shenanigans and butts in.
Willi had been repeatedly challenging his father to little fights and Amari was more than happy to oblige. Mum Shakina watched on as the two played, before wandering over and standing right in front of the dad.
Willi, a southern white rhinoceros (Ceratotherium simum simum), then trots off a little further away.
Willi and Amari have spent the best part of three weeks together outside, from dawn til dusk, playing together.
Shakina now mostly lets them get on with it, munching on grass as the other two tussle. She had been more protective of Willi before, but now she seems to have decided that he is old enough to start learning how to use his horn.
