This is the moment a father traps an eagle on his property and asks his young son to bludgeon the bird to death with a pole.
The incident took place in the village of Ikra in the district of Kurakhsky in the western Russian republic of Dagestan after the father set a trap.
In the footage, the father and son approach an eagle caught in a trap that was apparently baited by a chicken inside a cage.
The dad passes his son a pole and the boy whacks the eagle over the head with it.
They inspect the stunned bird and show its leg caught in the trap before the boy belts it again.
The poor eagle is last seen struggling on the ground.
According to reports, the police questioned the 49-year-old man and he explained that “we lost 20 or 30 chickens so we decided to catch the predator with a trap”.
The unnamed father added: “We thought it was a marten or something, but we were surprised to find it was an eagle.”
According to the father, he gave the pole to his son as the eagle was badly injured in the trap.
The eagle was reportedly killed at the scene and the police are still investigating the incident.
