Surveillance video from the motorway tunnel shows the red car travelling amidst heavy traffic when the driver suddenly loses control of the vehicle, and slams into the wall of a breakdown bay.
The high-speed collision happens moments after the driver has overtaken another car, as the footage from a different camera clearly shows.
The head-on crash with the concrete wall destroys the front of the red car, which is left wrecked and mangled by the side of the tunnel.
A female passenger in the front seat also appears to fall from the windscreen as the dramatic and violent crash comes to an end.
Authorities say both passengers inside the vehicle, who have not been named in reports, suffered fatal injuries during the crash and were declared dead at the scene by paramedics.
Police continue to investigate the case.
