Model Who Admitted Drug Use In Interview Is Jailed

A Russian model has been jailed for 18 months after she admitted using drugs in a magazine article.

Anna Glazova, 28, was arrested in January last year after she boasted about regularly using heroin for a decade while working as a model, and saying that she continued to function normally despite a heavy drug use.

She said that her relatives understood her drug use, and that she lived a perfectly normal life despite regular usage of heroin which she described as “a model’s constant companion”.

However authorities took a dim view of the article from the previous month in December that was written under the pseudonym ‘Teo’, and tracked her down and arrested her after she tried to go on the run.

Images of the model quickly saw her dubbed ‘Russia’s most beautiful drug addict’ but officials who accused her of using drugs also alleged that she was glamorising use of heroin, and ordered the article taken down.

Anna also writes on social media in support of legalising various drugs had clearly not expected to be jailed and was furious when she was told she would have to spend 18 months in prison after a trial.

When news of the jail term was announced, she even took to social media to accuse her lawyer Taranishenko Nikita of doing a bad job, saying he was “legally illiterate” and accused him of coming up with proposals “that would obviously not benefit me as a client”.

She also said he had been rude and abusive during meetings and claimed that he received funds from exiled Russian businessman Mikhail Khodorkovsky. It was unclear why she alleged that her lawyer would have been accepting money from an exiled Russian businessman now living in London.

It is unclear whether her former lawyer has responded to the online criticism.
