A former model who is close pals with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle has caused outrage after posting photos of her painting on live ponies.
Photographer Delfina Blaquier, who is married to polo player Nacho Figueras, shared the images on Instagram Stories for her 136,000 followers.
The Argentine couple attended the Wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle at Windsor Castle on 19th May.
However, journalist Angel de Brito shared the images and criticised the former model, saying: “Delfina Blaquier, why don’t you paint your bum?”
Many netizens were equally outraged, with ‘Claudia5937’ commenting: “What terrible thing to do to an animal.”
‘Matildablanco’ said: Crazy woman! My God, she should be jailed because the state punishes those who paint, abuse or abandon animals!”
‘Cristinascar’ added: “She has no shame or feelings, this is animal abuse.”
The online backlash forced Blaquier to issue an apology. She said: “I sincerely apologise if I offended anyone. I have nothing but respect and affection for horses.
“There is real love between a girl and her pony which is later bathed, cared for and given lots of affection. In no moment was the animal stressed or agitated.
“The paint is non-toxic and allowed for animal use. Of course, if it ends up in its eyes it would hurt in the same way it would hurt anyone.
“We have received many insults that I cannot repeat. I apologise for offending anyone. We will be more careful in the future.”
