The footage was obtained from the Massachusetts State Police, in the US state of Massachusetts, on 21st June.

The video shows the force’s Pipes and Drums performing the patriotic Scottish tune for the travelling party before the team headed south to Miami, Florida, where they will face Brazil.

‘Scotland the Brave’ is regarded as one of the country’s unofficial national anthems.

The melody carries a World Cup history of its own, having been played before Scotland’s matches at the 1982, 1986 and 1990 tournaments, before ‘Flower of Scotland’ was adopted for FIFA events.

Scotland had been based in the Boston area for the opening stage of the competition, the nation’s first World Cup appearance in 28 years.

Steve Clarke’s side beat Haiti for a first finals win since 1990, then lost 1-0 to Morocco, leaving them needing a result against Brazil at Hard Rock Stadium on the 24th of June.

The Massachusetts State Police said in a statement: “The Massachusetts State Police Pipes and Drums were proud to play for Scotland’s National Team as they departed Massachusetts today for their match in Miami.

“Thanks for bringing the Tartan Army to the Bay State!

“You’re welcome back any time!”
