Man Catches Falling Tot But Is Knocked Out In Process

This is the moment a man jumps out of his car and reaches out to catch a toddler plunging from four floors up before the falling child hits him and knocks him out cold.

The relieved hero Tonik Turghanbek, 28, woke up seconds later to discover that he had successfully rescued the two-year-old boy by cushioning his fall.

CCTV images from the Renhe Residential District in Yining, a city in China’s north-western Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, captured the incident on 23rd May.

Turghanbek can be seen getting out his parked car and looking upwards before the boy falls into his arms a second later, knocking him to the ground.

He can be seen lifting his head a few seconds later after regaining consciousness, with witnesses arriving to check on him and the child.

Turghanbek and the tot were both taken to the Friendship Hospital of Ili Kazakh Autonomous Prefecture, where doctors confirmed they had escaped serious injuries.

Turghanbek said: “I’d just come back from work and parked in front of the Renhe Residential District.

“I was still in my car when I heard screaming outside. People were all looking up, then I spotted the child hanging four storeys up. A few seconds later he fell.

“I wasn’t even thinking at the time. I just ran up and caught him, but I don’t know what happened afterwards – he knocked me out.”

It is still unclear whether he had been at home alone at the time of the accident.

According to reports, the tot weighing 28 pounds had climbed outside the window of his home and slipped over the edge, clinging on for a few seconds before plunging to the ground.

Tunjrghanbek reportedly sustained minor injuries to his left arm for his heroic actions.
