Lucky Moped Rider Avoids Lightning Striking Road

This is the moment a moped rider cheats death when a huge blue bolt of lightning crackles from the sky and strikes the road just inches away from where he is driving.

The near miss was captured on the dashcam of a nearby vehicle in Rong County, which is in the city of Yulin in China’s southern Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

In the video, the moped rider wearing a pink raincoat can be driving through standing water on the main road when the bolt of lighting strikes the asphalt right in front of her.

The terrified woman wobbles and then falls off her moped in shock, with the lightning having left an impact crater on the road just a few feet away.

According to reports, the woman was not seriously hurt and suffered minor injuries from the fall.

The incident comes as provinces in South China, including Guangxi, is lashed by record rainfall this week.

At least 19 people have died as a result of landslides and floods, according to the latest figures today (12th June).

Several thousand houses have been toppled and more than two million residents are affected by the ongoing heavy rains, reports said.
