A Brazilian influencer has revealed how he plans to survive for months underground inside a bunker he built himself in preparation for extreme scenarios.
Influencer Andre Luiz, from Joinville in northern Santa Catarina, Brazil, released new images on social media to his more than one million followers, showing the interior of the underground bunker he constructed on his property and explaining how he intends to live there if necessary.
The shelter, which measures around 30 square metres (323 square feet), is hidden in a forested area on the businessman’s land.
Luiz said construction began about three and a half years ago and that he has documented the development of the project online since it started.
The bunker was built using reinforced concrete and iron to increase structural strength. Luiz also plans to cover the upper section with vegetation so that the shelter blends into the surrounding environment and is harder to detect from the air.
Inside the underground space he has installed lighting, stored food supplies and placed a computer intended to allow access to information if he needs to remain inside the shelter for long periods.
In newly shared footage, Luiz demonstrates how he would manage daily life inside the bunker, including preparing food while conserving resources. In the video he shows how he cooks rice using a stainless steel cup in order to reduce gas consumption.
According to Luiz, the bunker has been stocked with enough supplies to allow survival for up to six months if required.
He said the bunker is intended as a precaution rather than a guarantee of safety, explaining that it is designed to improve the chances of protection in extreme situations. He compared the idea to wearing a seatbelt, saying it does not eliminate danger but may help in a critical moment.
