The influencer said he was shocked by how serious the infection became after what appeared to be a simple pimple.

He said: “I almost died because I squeezed a pimple.”

Dermatologist Daniele Cavalcante de Almeida Magnani explained that the area between the eyebrows and the corners of the mouth, which includes the nose and upper lip, is known as the “danger triangle of the face” or the “zone of death” because infections in this region can potentially spread towards the brain.

The doctor explained: “The veins in this region do not have valves and connect to the cavernous sinus, inside the skull. This allows a skin infection to reach internal structures.”

The main concern is cavernous sinus thrombosis, where an infection can cause a blood clot that may lead to serious complications including meningitis, a brain abscess or sepsis, a potentially life-threatening condition.

Daniele warned: “When you squeeze a pimple, the skin breaks and makes it easier for bacteria, such as Staphylococcus aureus, to enter deeper layers.”

Willian was later discharged after receiving treatment and urged followers not to squeeze pimples, pull inflamed hairs or interfere with wounds around this area of the face.
