Huge Hungry Polar Bear Climbs Onto Russian Ship

Shocked sailors fled when this huge polar bear climbed on board their ship in the Arctic Ocean, apparently looking for food.

The Russian crew from the port city of Murmansk were on board their ship the Arctic Spirit when the huge polar bear managed to climb on board after swimming up to the vessel.

It apparently managed to grab onto the fenders which are the plastic buoys chained to the side of the boat to protect it when mooring.

The panicked crew then fled to the roof of the ship when the huge animal suddenly appeared on deck, and once there they could only watch helplessly until the hungry polar bear got bored and left.

Although it appeared to be playful as it rolled around in the snow, the crew were under no illusions that the huge polar bear could be very dangerous, and other than filming, they were careful not to antagonise it.

Eventually, after several hours, it got bored of looking for fish and jumped back into the water where it swam off.

The incident reportedly happened near the islands of Svalbard which are a Norwegian-owned archipelago.
