Hubby Stabs Ex-Wife To Death In COVID Lockdown

This 50-year-old man has been arrested for stabbing his ex-wife to death in Argentina’s coronavirus lockdown.

Suspect Gustavo Di Matteo was arrested after crashing his car as he allegedly fled the scene of the murder of his ex-wife Sandra Benitez, 52, at her home in the city of Campana, in the eastern Argentine province of Buenos Aires.

Local media report the pair had a serious argument when Di Matteo allegedly took a blade and stabbed her in the neck.

Neighbours heard the screams of the victim and called the police. Officers attending the emergency saw the woman had several wounds to her neck and she was taken to hospital but doctors could do nothing to save her life.

The victim’s disabled brother was also attacked in the incident after reportedly trying to defend his sister.

Di Matteo is alleged to have fled the scene but crashed his car into the vehicle of a vegetable trader who he reportedly told “I have just killed my (ex) wife.”

He was arrested at the scene of the accident and was taken to the San Jose hospital where he was attended for his injuries.

Local media report Di Matteo was previously jailed in 2019 for breaking a restraining order the victim had taken out against him.

They reportedly had a daughter together but neither her age nor name were reported.

The investigation is ongoing and no charges have been reported.
