Horse Fatally Struck By Bus After Escape From Funfair

This is the moment a horse runs onto a road and is fatally struck by an oncoming bus just moments after escaping a funfair.

Heartbreaking images show the white horse lying injured on its side as witnesses gather around but are unable to do anything to help, and can only watch the animal take its final breath following the tragic accident.

Traffic camera footage dated 10th July shows the red bus travelling straight on Kaiqu Road in Huaibei, which is a city in East China’s Anhui Province, when the horse gallops onto the road in front of it.

The collision happens before the bus driver can stop, and the horse is left injured and dying on the ground.

Local police investigating the accident said the horse died shortly after the crash, before a veterinarian could be sent to assess the animal’s injuries.

Reports have revealed the animal escaped from the nearby Huanle Shijie – or Joy World – theme park, where it was a funfair attraction.

The man said he was unable to hold on to the reins, claiming the horse had been “spooked” by something.

Its owner, who said the horse was petted and ridden by children, was leading it back to the funfair when it suddenly sprinted away.

Local authorities said the owner would bear the majority of the responsibility for the accident, while the driver of the Route 17 bus would also be partially liable for failing to stop in time.

Investigations are ongoing.
