Horrified Fisherman Hooks Human Skull Instead Of Fish

This is the moment a human skull is left lying on the promenade in an area quickly cordoned off by cops after it was reeled in by a horrified fisherman.

The grisly find was made off Mustafa Kemal Coastal Boulevard in the Konak district of Izmir, Turkey, at around 11am on 18th October.

Police were called to the scene after the man noticed the object stuck on his fishing line and realised it was a human skull.

Officers cordoned off the area and carried out an examination along the shoreline.

Footage from the scene shows the skull on the promenade as teams in uniform work near the water and scanning the area for further evidence.

It was sent to the Izmir Forensic Medicine Institute for identification and further examination.

Specialist teams from the Public Security and Homicide Bureau have launched an investigation to establish the identity of the deceased and determine how the skull came to be in the water.

Maritime police are also searching the surrounding sea for the possibility that other body parts may be present.

The police investigation is ongoing.
