Henan citizens have been denied an IKEA superstore until now, and they left their homes in their droves to witness the opening.
The footage shows thousands of locals queuing outside the megastore on 29th August despite it being a workday.
According to local media, many crazed shoppers had camped out early to be among the first to browse the shop’s furniture, kitchen appliances and home accessories.
Reports said that many exhausted residents took a nap on the beds and sofas on offer.
Netizen ‘Xiao Xin’ remarked: “I have just got back from IKEA, super exhausted. Today is not the weekend, I estimate that there were over 100,000 people queuing.”
‘Tai Nengnai’ said: “There are so many people on this weekday! Is everyone on holiday?”
‘Yizhi Hua’ commented: “For what? A 1-RMB (0.1- GBP) ice cream? Please be smarter than this my fellow citizens.”
