Groom Dies In Front Of Bride After Jumping Into Sea From Height During Honeymoon

A groom has died in hospital after jumping head first from a height into the sea during his honeymoon and hitting his head on the bottom.

The 27-year-old man, identified as Suleyman Sariefe, suffered massive spinal damage when he hit his head in the accident in the city of Fethiye, Mugla province, Turkey, on 9th June.

He was on the third day of his honeymoon with his wife when he jumped from a high point into the sea headfirst, and suffered massive spinal injuries after striking his head.

Emergency teams were called to the scene after reports that the newlywed had sustained a severe injury following the jump.

Suleyman was pulled from the water and taken to Mugla Sitki Kocman University Medical Faculty Hospital, where he was placed under treatment for his injuries.

Medical staff continued treatment for 11 days before he died in hospital on 20th June.

His body was later handed over to relatives and transported to his hometown in Alasehir district of Manisa province.

The funeral was held at Kutuk Minare Mosque, where family members and relatives gathered for the ceremony.

Mourners included his father Mehmet Sariefe, his mother Gulay Gulmez, and his new wife Ezgi Sariefe.

Following the funeral prayer, he was laid to rest at Alasehir New Cemetery.
