A man in Germany has been arrested after he ambushed his female Chinese neighbour and sprayed her with disinfectant because he was worried she might infect the property with the coronavirus.
According to police in the southern German city of Munich, the 45-year-old woman had just come home from work at 7 PM in the Fasanerie district of the city and was standing in front of her door when her neighbour, also 45, suddenly pounced.
They said that he had “sprayed her” with disinfectant. The police spokesman added: “As he did it, he was repeatedly shouting ‘Corona’.”
He also repeatedly threatened to attack her leaving her paralysed in fear as she was disinfected from head to toe with the sprayed substance.
When the man then fled, the woman called the emergency services and the police patrol car turned up in order to calm the man down, and he has since been charged with GBH and making threats.
He was also warned that if he repeated the stunt, he would be arrested.
Police added that they were also looking to see whether there was a racist motive to the attack.
