This former bodybuilder who ditched her strict diet and training regime to become a plus-size model says she is happier than ever.
Curvy model and Instagram influencer Carina Moller-Mikkelsen, 25, from the city of Kiel in the northernmost German state of Schleswig-Holstein started gym training when she was 16 years old.
According to the plus-size model, she wanted to be as thin as the models in glossy magazines and she tried various gym classes and exercise regimes until “finding great joy in the free-weight area”.
She said: “I noticed my body changing after a short period of time and at some point I overhauled my diet accordingly. That was when I started to become a bodybuilder and later a competitive athlete in women’s categories.
“Around the end of 2017, beginning of 2018, I realised that I had lost my way.
“Am I happy about how I looked back then? No, unfortunately not!”
Carina said that she was working out in the gym between five and seven times a week as well as “weighing every gram of food I ate”.

She added: “I was caught in a vicious cycle.”
Carina said: “After a few day of wanting to break the routine, I finally ate what I had been craving for a long time. Chocolate, ice cream, pasta bake, I stuffed everything in without any control one day. I ate so much that I had a stomach ache and threw up!
“I realised I didn’t want any of that anymore. I had to change something and I did.”
