Fugitive Murderer Who Killed Women And Lived In Ireland Under False Name Jailed For Life

A businessman who killed three people and then fled to Ireland where he lived for years under a false identity has been sentenced to two life terms plus 20 years.

Car dealer Peter Dube, who was previously extradited from Ireland to Zimbabwe, received the sentence at the High Court before Justice Munamato Mutevedzi in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, on 26th November.

The court found him responsible for the murders of Shelton Chiduku and Gamuchirai Madungwe on 22nd April 2021.

He was also found guilty of shooting sisters Nyasha and Nyaradzo Nharingo, with the latter dying in hospital several months later.

The violence erupted after an argument between Dube and his polyamorous wife Nyasha, whom he accused of cheating with Shelton.

During the argument, Dube reportedly locked his wife out of the house. He eventually agreed to let her inside and told her to collect her belongings.

While Nyasha was packing with the help of her sister, Dube walked out and shot Shelton and Gamuchirai as they sat waiting in a car outside.

He then returned in the home and shot the sisters before fleeing.

Dube travelled first to South Africa before moving on to Eswatini, where he acquired a false identity which he used to fly to Ireland, where he lived for two years under the name Xolile Mtsali.

He was arrested in Dublin in June 2023 and was later deported back to Zimbabwe.

During the trial, Dube claimed he was mentally unstable and could not remember the shootings.

But a professional psychiatrist deemed him sane and said the accused had been “play-acting” to avoid punishment.

The judge called Dube a “sadist” and “psychopath”, adding that a person with a severe mental disorder could not have planned such a sophisticated international escape.

Dube was sentenced to two life sentences in jail, plus an additional 20 years for attempted murder.

The sentences will run consecutively due to the “severity” and “calculated nature” of the crimes.
