Footballer Mauro Icardi has been sued by the owner of a luxury villa he rented in Istanbul after allegedly leaving the property without paying four months of rent.
The dispute centres on the villa where Icardi lived with his former partner Wanda Nara, in the Gokturk district of Istanbul, north-western Turkey, and was reported by local media on 19th June.

According to local reports, Icardi, who served as a key player for Istanbul-based club Galatasaray, rented the luxury property last year under a one-year lease agreement.
The annual rent was reportedly set at USD 504,000 (TRY 23.3 million, GBP 380,000).
However, the Argentine striker allegedly vacated the villa four months before the end of the contract.

The property owner then demanded payment for the remaining four months of rent, amounting to USD 168,000 (around TRY 8 million, GBP 127,000).
Reports said Icardi did not agree to pay the outstanding amount.
The owner subsequently launched enforcement proceedings in an attempt to recover the money, but Icardi then formally objected to the enforcement action.

In response, the company that owns the villa filed a lawsuit seeking to overturn his objection and continue the recovery process.
The landlord has also filed separate legal claims alleging that the luxury villa was left damaged and in a deteriorated condition, seeking additional compensation to cover the cost of repairs and renovations.

The case was lodged with the Istanbul Civil Court of Peace.
The property owner argued that, under the terms of the lease agreement, Icardi remained responsible for the remaining four months of rent despite leaving the villa early.
Local reports said the court accepted the filing and the case is due to be heard in the coming days.
Neither Icardi nor his representatives had publicly commented on the proceedings at the time of reporting.

Icardi’s three-year contract with Galatasaray is set to expire on 30th June, making him a free agent after he reportedly rejected the club’s offers of an extension due to proposed salary reductions.
