Family member Fehmi Eren believes that mosque heads are guilty of negligence and has called for justice.

The mosque’s imam, identified as Yasar O., was arrested after the incident, according to reports.

Meanwhile, the local authorities told the mosque’s teaching staff to secure all the furniture items and carry out strict safety measures.

According to local media, little Devran, who came from the far-eastern Turkish province of Agri, was attending the Quran course while staying with relatives in Kocaeli.

In the CCTV footage, the young victim is seen talking with an older boy before walking over to the large wardrobe in the corner of the room and opening the door.

The huge furniture topples forwards and flattens the poor boy.
