Elderly Woman Has Arm Torn Off By Tiger In Czech Republic

An elderly woman in the Czech Republic has had her arm torn off by a tiger when she put her hand into the cage to stroke it.

The incident happened in the village of Chvojenec in the Pardubice region of the Czech Republic on Monday afternoon.

The 66-year-old woman, name not disclosed, had apparently been warned not to try to stroke the tiger but ignored the advice and was rushed to the University Hospital Hradec Kralove, according to police spokeswoman Dita Holeckova, as quoted by Czech news agency CTK.

The tiger’s owner, reportedly a relative of the woman, was not around at the time of the accident.

It is believed that as well as tigers, the owner also keeps pumas, desert foxes, lions, and leopards.

He reportedly has 20 years experience in keeping large carnivores, and police are now checking if all the security protocols were properly adhered to.

The investigation continues.
