El-Chapo Ally Wanted By NY Court Extradited To US

This member of a cartel allied with El-Chapo’s former gang has been extradited to the United States on drugs charges from a New York court.

Mexican authorities have handed over Rigoberto Andrade Renteria, alias El Rigo, to their American counterparts at Toluca International Airport in the city of Toluca in the central Mexican state of Mexico.

Renteria was arrested in January 2011 in the city of Tijuana, in the northwestern Mexican state of Baja California along with two others, Raul Franco Lopez, and David Bustos Aguilar.

All three are alleged members of the La Familia Michoacana cartel, which Renteira’s brother Ignacio Andrade, alias El Cenizo, is said to be a key player in.

He was wanted in a federal court in New York for drug-related criminal association and prosecutors believe he was in charge of trafficking synthetic drugs made by his brother towards the United States.

The drugs, which have not been specified, were reportedly made in clandestine laboratories in the state of Michoacan.

In 2010, the General Prosecution of Mexico offered a 5-million-MXN (186,485-GBP) reward to anyone who provided information leading to his arrest.

La Familia Michoacana works in the fabrication of drugs, kidnapping, blackmailing and money laundering. The cartel is an ally of the Sinaloa Cartel formerly led by Joaquin ‘El Chapo’ Guzman.

El-Rigo’s brother reportedly works on direct orders from leader and founder of the cartel of La Familia Michoacana, Jesus Mendez, alias El Chango. The bother was arrested on 21st June 2017 by members of the Mexican Army in Paracuaro, Michoacan.

He himself had a reward of 10 million MXN (372,969 GBP) on his head for information leading to his arrest.
