A German drink-driver managed to lose all four of his tyres while fleeing from cops and had only rims left when they finally pulled him over.
The 26-year-old driver, who was not named for legal reasons, had been travelling down a road in the local community of Vettweiss which is in the north-eastern German state of North Rhine Westphalia when he had an accident.
He apparently failed to see that there was roundabout in the middle of the road, and crashed into it in the early hours of the morning when it was still dark, causing extensive damage to his vehicle and tearing away part of the roundabout.
But rather than stopping, he carried on his way with the burst tyres eventually breaking away leaving nothing but rims.
Travelling in a shower of sparks his trip eventually ended when he crashed into a ditch that attracted the attention of police officers, who were not impressed by the fact that he had failed to see why he should have stopped after bursting all four tyres.
He also backed up his belief that tyres were not necessary by travelling several kilometres before he finally ended up in the ditch.
The trip reportedly caused damage to the road surface and an alcohol test revealed that the man was more than three times over the legal limit with 157 Micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 50.
His driving licence has been confiscated and the investigation continues.
