A grandfather has been left heartbroken after his cute twin grandsons, his son and his wife were all wiped out in a car crash as they headed off on holiday.
The tragic accident took place on the road between the capital city of Belgrade and the city of Nis in Serbia, when eight-year-old twin brothers Vuk Pesic and Naum Pesic were travelling with their father Aleksandar Pesic, 42 and their grandmother Stanica, 75, towards Silver Lake in eastern Serbia.
The family were travelling in their Citroen when it was apparently hit by a Volkswagen Sharan car being driven by 49-year-old Albanian Adem Smail, with his wife and two children also inside.
Local media report Smail may have fallen asleep while driving and lost control over the Volkswagen, hitting the Pesic family’s car.
One of the twins died at the scene while the other passed away in hospital. Nobody was injured in Smail’s car, according to reports.
The twins’ grandfather, Dragutin Pesic, who also lost his son and wife in the accident, said: “Don’t ask me anything. I have ended up without my closest in a moment.
“I will sue him. I’ve been thinking. He killed my all. That is my obligation as a grandfather, father and a husband.”
Aleksandar and the mother of the twins, Slavica Pesic, were reportedly divorced around three years ago but were both taking care of the boys.
The driver of the Volkswagen Sharan has been arrested. He is suspected of a serious offence against traffic safety, according to local media.
The investigation is ongoing.
