This is the adorable female dog who fell in ‘love at first sight’ with a lonely male wolf after the pair were introduced to keep each other company at a Chinese zoo.
The incident took place at Jiufeng Forest Zoo in the city of Wuhan in the eastern Chinese province of Hubei Province when a female dog was placed with the lone male wolf to give it company.
According to reports, zoo visitors were miffed to find a Chinese rural dog in the wolf enclosure and reported it to local media.
However, a Jiufeng Forest Zoo spokesperson explained that the wolf rarely came out of its kennel and visitors never got to see it.
Staff suspected that it was lonely and added two female dogs to the enclosure two years ago to give it company.
The wolf appeared to like one of the dogs far more than the other so zookeepers allowed it to live in the enclosure.
The spokesperson added: “[They] have lived in the same kennel for more than two years and are in perfect harmony.
“They fell in love at first sight. Every time they ate, the wolf would let the dog eat. In the end, the dog would occupy the dog basin. The male wolf is often starving and we have [to] feed him alone.”
Netizen ‘Misizhou’ commented: “This is such a great love story!”
‘Youshuaigele’ joked: “The fierce wolf is afraid of his wife just like the rest of us!”
However, ‘Yichimuse’ said: “The condition of the zoo really needs improvement.”
