This is the moment police pull a shivering fugitive nicknamed the “Iceman” from inside a freezer where he had hidden to evade arrest over charges of mugging a woman on the street.
The dramatic discovery was made in the city of Gonzalez Catan, in Buenos Aires Province, Argentina, local media reported on 13th February.
Officers from the Buenos Aires Provincial Police’s Departmental Investigations Directorate (DDI) La Matanza were carrying out a raid at the home of Alexis Alejandro Gonzalez, who was wanted in connection with an alleged robbery on 2nd February.
Police said detectives had previously spotted a man forcefully trying to take a woman’s mobile phone at an intersection, where he allegedly grabbed it and escaped on a red Honda motorcycle ridden by his alleged accomplice, 23-year-old Cristian Leonel Maidana.
The suspects were chased for several metres before the motorcycle collided with a police vehicle. Maidana was detained at the scene after a struggle with officers, and police said two mobile phones were recovered from him, one of which was identified by the victim as her own.

Investigators later identified Gonzalez as the second suspect and obtained a warrant to search his address.
When officers arrived at the property, police said a woman attempted to block their entry, shouting that her disabled son was inside in a wheelchair.
Officers entered the house regardless and reported finding items of interest concealed in the wheelchair.
During a sweep of the home, officers made the unexpected discovery of Gonzalez curled up inside a domestic freezer, wedged among frozen food and ice bottles.
Video footage shows the moment officers open the lid and pull him out of the appliance.
Police said Gonzalez was showing signs consistent with hypothermia and was treated at the scene by medical personnel before being formally placed under arrest.

During the raid, officers seized a Hi Power Detective pistol loaded with 11 rounds, two magazines, a tactical transport vest, a holster, several high-end mobile phones including an iPhone 11 Pro Max, two white iPhone 15 Pro Max devices and an iPhone 17 Pro Max, two Samsung phones, and clothing believed to have been worn during the alleged robbery.
Authorities said Gonzalez has prior convictions for sexual abuse, robbery and domestic violence.
The case has been classified as aggravated robbery, and both suspects remain in custody as prosecutors continue investigating whether they were linked to other offences in the area.
