In the video, pair can be seen kneeling on the roof as the helicopter hovers next to them.

The pilot manages to touch down on the roof and the pair crawl into the aircraft which then flies them to safety with onlookers applauding.

Reports state firefighters struggled to contain the blaze as temperatures reached up to 2,000 degrees centigrade and visibility was poor.

The body of one person was found dead in the building while three others are reportedly in a serious condition in hospitals in Ibiza and Valencia. The injured person currently in Valencia, 40 years old, had to be transferred to the burns hospital on the mainland because of the severity of their injuries.

The two in a serious condition in Ibiza are a 42-year-old Moroccan national who is suffering from serious burns and smoke inhalation and a 32-year-old Moroccan national who jumped from the top floor to escape the blaze.

Three women were treated for anxiety attacks and have since been released while two Moroccan men aged 41 and 50 were treated for smoke inhalation.

Jose Antonio Lopez, a firefighter in Ibiza, told local media the flames had totally affected the building and firefighters had been unable to enter all of the building because there are still areas which are too hot and without proper visibility.

Firefighters reportedly had to work in shifts of 15 minutes to go into the building to stop the fire because of the heat from the flames.

It is not known how the fire started and the identity of the dead person has not been reported.

Reports state that the Department of Social Welfare of the city council of Vila will help those who lost their home in the fire to find new housing.
