This is the moment rescuers free a cat with a pair of female knickers around its neck after its owner accidentally started a washing machine with the animal trapped inside.
The incident happened at an apartment on Gilyarovskogo Street in Moscow, Russia, on 12th February.
According to reports, the woman did not notice that her pet had climbed into the drum and switched on the wash cycle with the cat inside.
When she heard the animal meowing, she immediately stopped the machine, but was unable to open the door because it had locked shut while the washing cycle progressed.
She called emergency services, and a team from the Public Search and Rescue team Spasrezerv was dispatched to the address.
Spasrezerv said they received a call and that dispatchers initially advised the owner by phone to open the detergent drawer to allow air in and to remove the lower drain filter to lower the water level.
The measures partially worked, lowering the water so the cat could breathe more easily.
On arrival, rescuers managed to open the washing machine door where the cat emerged shakily to the ground and with its fur soaking wet from the ordeal.
Footage shows the machine being opened as the soaked cat, named Joy, with the pair of black knickers around its neck as it steps out on its own in a dazed and unsteady walk before being picked up by rescuers and wrapped in towels.
Spasrezerv said the frightened cat was dried off and soon began to recover.
The pet survived the incident, shook slightly at first, but later ate food, according to the rescue service.
