Boy Cries As Heated Bed Destroys Erasable Ink Homework

These pictures of a tearful schoolboy who lost hours of work when his heated bed made the erasable ink writing vanish were posted online by his family to warn other parents against using the same pens.

The unnamed schoolboy, who has been dubbed ‘China’s most hapless pupil’, had been staying at his grandmother’s old-fashioned village home in North China.

And pictures of him bawling his eyes out have since gone viral on social media with thousands of likes and comments since his relatives revealed his rotten luck by sharing the images online.

According to reports, the boy spent two hours finishing the winter break homework assigned to his class, and did so while lying on top of his nan’s bed-stove – known in Chinese as a ‘kang’.

A kang is a heatable brick bed found traditionally in China’s northern regions, bordering Russia, where winters are often long and harsh.

The elevated beds are built with a furnace space beneath them where coal is burnt to generate heat.

The unlucky schoolboy, whose name has not been revealed, did all his homework using an erasable pen, and the ink is understood to have vanished due to the heated surface on which he was writing.

Upon realising he spent two hours for nothing, the boy burst into tears, with the moments captured by his bemused family members, who asked online: “Who invented erasable ink anyway?”

Social media users have sympathised with the boy, and some have even suggested placing his homework in a freezer would somehow reverse the effect.

It was unclear at the time of writing whether the pupil had followed the advice.

Social media user ‘Woyao Caosi Woziji’ wrote: “Don’t worry, your pages should have imprints from your pen. Let your teacher feel them.”

‘Aishi Yinwa’ said: “Upvote this comment! Put it in the freezer and you’ll be able to see your writing again.”

‘Chen Xixin’ added: “I’m sure his teacher will see this news in the trending section.”
