Bodies Piled On Floor In Morgue With 6 Murders A Day

These images show dead bodies piled up on the floor of a morgue overflowing with corpses in the world’s most violent city where six murders – often due to drug gang violence – happen every day.

The disturbing images were apparently taken in the Forensic Medical Centre in the city of Tijuana in the state of Baja California in Mexico, close to the border with the United States.

In the images, dozens of dead bodies can be seen piled up on the floor of the morgue.

The state coordinator of the institution Cesar Raul Gonzalez Vaca initially refused to confirm if the photos had been taken in Tijuana, saying they were “too blurry to recognise if they are from the Tijuana facility”.

However, he has now admitted that the facilities in Tijuana were overfull and assured reporters the bodies were no longer on the floor.

Relatives who were taken to the centre to identify their loved ones reportedly compared the scenes to a war film.

One woman named Nancy said: “They showed us my husband, and they showed them to us in a very critical condition as they don’t have a refrigerator, he was already falling apart, he was almost fallen apart, he was unrecognisable and that is inhuman.”

In the past weeks over 190 bodies have arrived at the centre which has a capacity is for 150, according to local media.

The president of the Superior Court of State Justice, Salvador Juan Ortiz Morales, claimed that the refrigerators had needed cleaning and someone took those photos when they were emptied.

Morales also said that the centre is undergoing an expansion project.

According to figures from the National Public Security System, last year was one of the most violent years in Tijuana’s history with over 2000 homicides, which is an average of six murders per day.

According to local media, the city of Tijuana is considered to be the most violent municipality in the world, with the violence attributed to human trafficking and drug running by different criminal groups and the rivalry between the Sinaloa Cartel and the Tijuana Cartel.

The Tijuana Cartel or Arellano-Felix Organization is a Mexican drug cartel based in Tijuana which is described as “one of the most violent criminal groups in Mexico.”

While the Sinaloa Cartel is an international drug trafficking, money laundering, and organised crime syndicate primarily based in the city of Culiacan in Sinaloa and operates in several Mexican states among which is Baja California.
