The Argentine president’s LGBT son has hit back at the Brazilian president’s son after he appeared to ridicule him for being bisexual.
Local media said that Eduardo Bolsonaro, 35, son of Brazil’s right-wing president Jair Bolsonaro, posted a macho photo of himself posing with assault rifles alongside a snap of bisexual Estanislao Fernandez, 24, who is the son of Argentina’s recently elected president Alberto Fernandez.
Fernandez, who performs a drag queen show, is seen wearing a Pikachu costume with heavy makeup on.
Bolsonaro included the montage with the message: “Son of the Argentine president / Son of the Brazilian president.”
To emphasis the dichotomy, Bolsonaro wrote: “This is not a meme.”
The following day, Fernandez responded by posting on social media: “A lot of people from Brazil have started following me and I want to tell the LGBTQIA+ community and allies of Brazil that we are in this fight together.
“Remember love always defeats hate and we have to take care of each other.”
Fernandez reportedly wrote a separate post in Portuguese shortly afterwards, saying: “Brazilian brothers, we are in this fight together. I love you.”
Fernandez is a popular drag queen who goes by the stage name Dyhzyx, according to reports. His father Alberto Fernandez, 60, won the 2019 Argentine general election on 27th October.
Eduardo Bolsonaro’s father has been serving as Brazil’s 38th president since 1st January 2019.
Local media said that Jair Bolsonaro has frequently spoken out against homosexuality, but he softened his approach when presenting himself as a pre-candidate to the presidency in 2016.
