Angry Stray Cat Attacks Only Men And Dogs, Never Women

An angry stray cat which attacks any men or dogs within range of its claws but that apparently never bothers women or children has been caught on camera.

CCTV security cameras outside a market in Turkey’s biggest city of Istanbul have caught the cat in action on several occasions.

The footage shows the cat pouncing on a succession of men and dogs who dare to come near its favourite haunt, on the steps of a market in the Bayrampasa area of the city.

Local residents, who look after the cat, want a vet to examine it to try to work out why it is being so aggressive.

They claim it is normally a very calm cat but has recently taken to launching itself at men and dogs.

Neighbour Ali Aydin said the cat had recently had kittens and could be trying to defend them from perceived threats.

Ali said: “This is not a wild cat, she’s used to people. She crosses here every day, taking food to her kittens, we leave the door open for her.

“The cat is used to that spot. It’s not an aggressive cat but due to her kittens she is attacking. It’s a very good cat actually. Maybe somebody has hurt her.”

Beril Gencturk added: “I’ve seen several people kicking it. It usually attacks only males and dogs. Maybe it’s had some traumas.

“I have a cat too. Making an animal happy is the most satisfying feeling in the world. This cat has never attacked me.”

And another resident, Ayse Yuksel, added: “This cat only attacks males and dogs. I have never seen it attacking a woman.”

The video of the cat is proving popular on social media where netizen ‘Salih Demirdag’ said: “This one must be possessed by demons”, and ‘Tayfur Ekim’ added: “This is a crazy cat, what are they feeding it?”

Istanbul is famous for its stray cats. There are an estimated 30,000 in the city and many local people care for them, putting out food and shelter for them in the colder winter months.
