800 Homes Evacuated In Huge Malaga Forest Fire Accident

Around 800 families have been evacuated on the Spanish Costa del Sol after a resident reportedly set fire to a beehive and sparked the massive forest blaze seen in this footage.

Over 200 officials are battling the fire in the municipality of Estepona in Malaga in the southern Spanish autonomous community of Andalusia, according to reports.

The blaze was started on Monday near the Padron River and 800 homes have reportedly been evacuated as a preventative measure by the local authorities.

The National Police said that an unnamed man started the devastating blaze when he set fire to a beehive.

To fight the spreading flames, the authorities assembled a team of 188 forest firefighters and emergency services personnel amounting to more than 200 people in total, according to local media.

High winds and temperatures in the area are reportedly making the operation more difficult and five people have been treated by medical staff for smoke inhalation and minor burns and bruises.

Luckily, reports said that no one needed to be hospitalised.

According to local media, the fire is spreading closer to residential areas and the number of evacuated homes may rise.
