A 14-month-old boy was drowned in a bucket of water inside the family home after his mother left him alone in a room.
The tragedy took place in the municipality of Lagoa Seca, in the state of Paraiba in the Northeast Region of Brazil, on Monday 26th September.
The victim has been named as Everton Mathias and he was reportedly playing before the tragic accident.
The child’s mother, who has not been named, was reportedly with him, but she had to leave the room for a few moments and when she returned, she reportedly found him face down in the bucket of water, according to local media.
The young boy lived with his mother, father, aunt and grandmother, with the latter reportedly trying to revive him.
They reportedly managed to extract some of the water from his lungs and he was rushed to hospital by ambulance but could not be revived.
